REGISTRATION is now open for one of the Helensburgh Winter Festival’s most popular features – the annual Santa Dash around the town.
And the Helensburgh and District Round Table, the organisers of the race, have announced this week that all proceeds from the 2018 Dash will go to two local good causes – Visiting Friends and the Helensburgh and Lomond Foodbank.
Visiting Friends was officially launched as a charity just last week, focussing on tackling isolation among Helensburgh’s older residents – see the story elsewhere on this page.
And the food bank currently hands out 35-40 bags of food every week to vulnerable people and families across the area.
A spokesman for the Round Table said: “We hope to be giving at least £1,000 to each of these great causes.
“To make this possible please register to take part in the Helensburgh Santa Dash at www.santadashhelensburgh.co.uk.”
The Winter Festival takes place on Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2, with the Santa Dash setting off at 12 noon on the Sunday.
