An award-winning Barrhead barber is to take his business full circle by opening a new branch in Paisley.

Davie Walker has earned a glowing reputation for providing cool cuts and sleek styles at his Davie the Barber salon, in Barrhead’s Grahamston Road.

Now he is expanding his business through a new shop in Causeyside Street, Paisley, which will open next month.

Davie, who originally hails from Paisley but now lives in Barrhead, previously ran a shop in Causeyside Street, which first opened in 2007.

However, he was forced to close the doors and relocate to Grahamston Road after water damage led to the roof caving in.

Davie said: “When we moved to Barrhead, it was too far for a lot of my former customers in places like Linwood and Renfrew to travel to.

“This new shop will be much more accessible for them.”

Davie, who is married to Lindsay and dad to seven-year-old Danny and five-year-old Eva, will continue to spend most of his time in the Barrhead shop.

He said: “I’ll be in the Paisley shop on Tuesdays but that will mainly be for training purposes.

“I live one mile from the Barrhead shop, so it makes sense for me to stay there.”
Since launching his business, Davie has earned plaudits for his work with the autistic community.

He is a member of the Autism Barbers Assemble organisation, which offers safe spaces for those with the condition to get their hair cut.

And he plans to offer this service at his new Paisley shop.

Davie is also building links in China and the USA, where he hopes to provide autism barber training to fellow professionals.

He said: “We were the first barbers in the UK to host an Autism Barber Day and we are hoping to host this again in both the Paisley and Barrhead shops at the beginning of next year.”
