STAYING on at school beyond ordinary hours isn’t usually something that would appeal to pupils - but Hermitage Academy’s youngsters did just that to help their Winter Learning Festival go with a swing recently.

The school threw open its doors to visitors to allow them to see round the building, as well as offering insights into its teaching operations on various subjects.

Visitors also found out more information about the organisations who help out around the school, including its parent council and parent teacher association.

Lesson demonstrations were available to be viewed by the public, and the departments around the school put on displays of their work.

And there were visits from other groups from outwith the school, including Skills Development Scotland, the Royal Air Force air cadets, UNICEF and the Scouts.

Those in attendance also had fun learning about the various extra-curricular activities on offer at the school, and how pupils can be supported to find careers.

These photographs show how much the night was enjoyed by all those who attended, whether they were pupils, teachers or visitors to the school.
