VANDALS targeting cars in a residential street in central Helensburgh have caused significant damage to a number of vehicles.

Between Friday, November 23 and Monday, November 26, several cars parked in Maitland Court had their bonnets and body panels scratched, with several residents reporting a large amount of damage to paintwork.

One resident claimed at least a dozen vehicles had been vandalised, including his own on two separate occasions.

Colin Burton said: “It seems to be mindless vandalism.

“Our car was done twice in the same spot so it would have been pointless to do it again as it hasn’t been fixed yet.

“We are going to pay it ourselves as we don’t want our insurance premium to go up, but we haven’t had it priced yet.

“Every time it has been done several cars parked nearby have been targeted too.”

Police confirmed they are investigating the incidents.

Anyone with any information regarding these acts of vandalism is asked to please contact Helensburgh police on station direct or phone 101.
