HERMITAGE Primary School children were given a rare insight into a major new housing development in Helensburgh before Christmas.

Primary 2 pupils donned their safety hats and high-vis vests for a special tour of the Hermitage Grange site, on the grounds of the old Hermitage Academy off Cardross Road, as part of their Houses and Homes class project.

And class teacher Emma Stevenson said the exciting opportunity to explore the construction site was a worthwhile trip for the youngsters.

She said: “Our children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Hermitage Grange, asking lots of questions and learning about the building process.

“They really enjoyed seeing the different stages that it takes to build a new house in real-life, and we know they absolutely loved the show homes.”

Work began on the Taylor Wimpey development in 2017 to build 95 two, three and four bedroom family homes in what the housing firm have called “one of Argyll and Bute’s most sought-after and desirable locations”.
