FANCY blowing off the last of the New Year cobwebs with some outdoor exercise – and getting up close with some fantastic scenery at the same time?

Then Helensburgh and West Dunbartonshire Ramblers' programme of regular weekend walks around Scotland could be just the thing.

The group's next walk takes place on Sunday, January 13 and is to Ben A'an in the Trossachs.

The route follows a well marked path to the summit which climbs steeply up, first through woods then open hillside with splendid views.

The return from the summit is on an indistinct and sometimes boggy path.

This goes north from the summit and then west down to the tarmac track beside Loch Katrine to the pier and then by minor road back to Loch Achray and the start point.

Terrain is a mixture of track, boggy path and road.

The walk covers a distance of 6km and ascends 355m to a height of 462m.

Meet at Helensburgh Swimming Pool car park to depart at 9am.

To join the walk phone 01389 731953 or email mather.joyce@gmail.com.
