Could Scotland’s top young gardeners be flourishing in Helensburgh and Lomond?
That’s the question being asked by environmental charity, Keep Scotland Beautiful, which has launched a search for green-fingered pupils to participate in its annual pocket garden competition.
The contest challenges pupils to create a design which could feature in a major display at Gardening Scotland this summer.
Schools are being encouraged to take part by designing a garden which celebrates the country’s landscape by linking plants and places with water and changing climate.
A Keep Scotland Beautiful spokesperson said: "The 2019 themes celebrate Scotland’s landscape by linking plants and place with water and our changing climate.
"They are rain gardens for sustainable drainage, drought tolerant gardens, wetland or fresh water margin gardens, and coastal gardens.
"We'll be looking for designs that are good for wildlife, have food for people and that can adapt and survive our changing climate."
The entry deadline is February 8. More details at keepscotlandbeautiful.org/pocketgarden.
