A POPULAR Luss nanny reached the grand old age of 100 on New Year’s Eve.
Christina MacNaughton celebrated the milestone birthday at Edinbarnet Nursing Home in Duntocher surrounded by friends and family.
Despite moving to Luss from Pittenweem over 60 years ago and no longer living there, Christina was still visited by some of the many friends from Loch Lomondside who still know her affectionately as Nanna.
Lesley Wild, who Christina was nanny to at the Colquhoun Arms Hotel, said: “She is a fantastic character who brought us up wonderfully.
“Every time I go across to the village people still ask how she is.”
During her time in Luss, Christina became involved in a huge range of activities including the SWRI, where she was president and later an honorary member, church events, the local drama group and the opening of the Lodge on Loch Lomond at Luss.
Council convener Billy Petrie presented her with a message from the Queen. while his granddaughter April McBride presented her with a bouquet, said: “She is a wonderful woman who was involved in absolutely everything.
“She was the life and soul of the village in days gone by.”
