A NEW series of sign language classes will be held in Helensburgh on the weekend of January 26 and 27.
The classes in British Sign Language (BSL) and Signed Supported English (SSE) are all being held at the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre, have been organised by Burgh resident Amy Powell, who brought BSL campaigner Wayne Barrow to Helensburgh last year for a similar series of taster sessions, attended by people aged from five to 70.
The weekend’s programme, again to be led by social media sensation Wayne, includes general BSL taster sessions as well as classes aimed at families with young children, teachers, and people with additional needs.
All class prices include refreshments and a place at an additional free session on Sunday, January 27.

Saturday, January 26
General session, 9-11am: £20 per person (20 places)
General session, 11.30am-1.30pm: £20pp (20 places)
Family and youth session, 2-4pm: £20 per adult and secondary school pupil, £10 per primary pupil (20 places)
Teachers' session, 4.30-6.30pm: £20pp (30 places)
Sunday, January 27
Family and additional needs 'sign singing' session, 9.30-10.30am: £10pp (20 places), featuring music and movement in a relaxed atmosphere
General session, 11.30am-1.30pm: £20pp (20 places)
Additional FREE session, 2-4.30pm
