THE Friday night journey home is looking set to be a relatively smooth one for commuters heading to or from Helensburgh at the end of the working week.

Traffic Scotland is reporting no delays on the key roads in the area, including the A82, A814, M8 and Erskine Bridge.

There are roadworks on the A82 on Loch Lomondside from the Arden roundabout to the junction with the B832, but no delays have been reported in the area.

However, queues have been reported on the westbound M8 near to the exit for the Clyde Tunnel at junction 25 (Cardonald), for motorists heading from Glasgow towards Dumbarton and Helensburgh.

And for those travelling by train, ScotRail is reporting no delays, cancellations or reduced-capacity trains on the Helensburgh line.

There will, however, be lane closures on the A82 this weekend, between the Erskine Bridge junction and the Dunglass roundabout for street lighting maintenance.

Lane closures on the northbound carriageway started on Thursday night, and there are lane closures on both northbound and southbound carriageways from 8pm on Friday through to early on Monday morning, and drivers should leave extra time for their journeys.
