HELENSBURGH commuters face a tight squeeze on one of the busiest rush-hour trains home from Glasgow tonight (Wednesday).

ScotRail has advised that the 5.32pm service from Glasgow Queen Street low level to Helensburgh Central – which started at Edinburgh Waverley at 4.18pm – will have three coaches instead of the usual six, due to "maintenance requirements".

All other trains towards Helensburgh are scheduled to operate as per the usual timetable and with the usual number of coaches.

Meanwhile, for those relying on buses to get home from Helensburgh, a collapsed manhole cover in Colquhoun Square which disrupted local bus services earlier on Wednesday has now been repaired, and all Helensburgh buses are due to run as normal, to and from the usual stops.

Traffic Scotland's website is reporting no delays on the roads in and around Helensburgh.

However, due to "landscape maintenance", there is a reported lane closure on the northbound A82 at the Leven Bridge in Dumbarton, between the Lomondgate and Stoneymollan roundabouts, with the potential to delay rush hour drivers planning on using the A82 and A818 to get home to Helensburgh.
