A DREAM came true for a popular slimmer from Helensburgh when she met and cuddled up to TV heartthrob John Barrowman.
Bernadette McParland, a Slimming World consultant who runs weekly groups at Helensburgh’s Masonic Hall, met the multi-talented performer at Slimming World’s glitzy awards ceremony at the ICC in Birmingham recently.
Bernadette was over the moon when John, best known as Captain Jack on Torchwood and a firm favourite on television talent shows like Any Dream Will Do and How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, called her ‘an inspiration’ after cuddling up to her to for a photo.

He said: “Seeing people’s dreams come true is an incredible thing and I’ve had the privilege of doing that through my TV career. Bernadette is special because she is helping people to achieve their dreams every week. It really is a pleasure to meet her.”
