A MAN is being hunted by police in Cardross over animal cruelty claims after allegedly kicking a dog several times.

A witness contacted police after allegedly observing a 30-40-year-old male walking a brown and white spaniel near to Bainfield Road at around 1.50pm on Wednesday, January 16.

The witness claimed to have seen the man kick the dog a number of times and lift it off the ground by the lead which was round its neck.

The man is then said to have walked towards Cardross railway station before entering a vehicle.

He is said to be 5ft 9' tall, stocky build, with light brown hair, wearing a green jacket with a brown cord collar and a green cap.

The police enquiry is ongoing to identify the male and ensure the wellbeing of the dog.
