THE owners of the Hill House in Helensburgh are seeking volunteers and staff to show visitors around the property when it opens this spring – with a new protective 'box' around the building.
The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) is holding a recruitment fair in the town this week to give local residents a chance to find out more about opportunities to join the team later this year.
The Charles Rennie Mackintosh masterpiece is being covered with a unique steel mesh shelter, known as 'the Box', to protect it from the elements and halt the impact of more than 100 years of water penetration.
Work on site began in November in November and the steel frame of the structure is now being erected.

As well as protecting the building from the weather, the ‘Box’ will give visitors the chance to get a new perspective on the Hill House from elevated walkways looping around the building, and see conservation work in action.
Richard Williams, NTS general manager for Glasgow and the West, said: “The Box is a really exciting project – not only is it vital to protecting the Hill House, but it will give visitors a completely different experience. There’s just nothing else like it in Scotland.
"We’re looking for people to join the team in a range of roles and play an important part in this project, helping our charity protect one of Scotland’s national treasures.”

The recruitment event takes place at the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre in East Clyde Street on Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2 from 11am until 3pm.
