THE owner of a Helensburgh business has spoken of her "shock" at winning a top prize at a wedding awards ceremony this week.
Elegance Boutique of Helensburgh carried off the award for the best ‘mother of the bride’ retailer at the Confetti Awards in Glasgow on Sunday night.
The business was the second local winner at the ceremony after the Rosslea Hall Hotel in Rhu was chosen as the winner of the ‘best wedding venue in Scotland’ prize for weddings over £6,000.

Describing her reaction when the shop was announced as the winner, Doreen Shields, owner of Elegance Boutique, said: "Shocked!
“I’ve only been in business for four years and this was the first time we’ve been nominated for an award, so it’s a great achievement.
“We were one of five finalists, and the five others are all quite big shops, but the personal service is what’s important for us.
“People also travel to our shop from all over Scotland so we’re bringing a lot of business to the town.”
And the two winners weren't the only Helensburgh businesses present at the awards: The Wedding Planner, based in the town, was nominated for the 'best team' prize.
