THE proceeds of the annual Christmas tree festival at the United Reformed Church in Helensburgh have been presented to two charitable causes.
The Helensburgh branch of Enable Scotland went along to the church in West Princes Street last week to accept a cheque for £1,100 from the church, and the same amount has been sent to the Osiligi Charity Projects, who work primarily with members of the Maasai people in Kenya.
The event, held at the church throughout December, saw visitors of all ages arriving to view 40 stunning trees which had been sponsored and decorated by a variety of local community groups, youth groups, and charities.
Some were also decorated in memory of loved ones.
Rev Mitchell Bunting, the church's minister, said: "We send our sincere thanks to all those who participated in the 2018 Christmas tree festival – those who purchased and decorated each of the 40 trees on display, those who provided musical entertainment, those who provided refreshments and acted as stewards, and especially all those who put donations into the glass jars.
"Without these efforts this event would not have been such a success.
