HIGH winds from Storm Erik have forced the train line between Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh to close.

ScotRail says that due to high winds at Craigendoran station disruption is expected to last until 7pm on Friday evening and services will be terminated at and started back from Hyndland.

It adds that replacement buses will be available at Helensburgh Central and Dumbarton Central.

The West Highland line service south from Helensburgh Upper is also affected, with some passengers reporting being stuck on trains sitting at the station for nearly an hour.

Gusts of up to 60mph are forecast throughout the day, while the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued a flood warning for Helensburgh, with the pier car park and Rhu Road likely to be affected.

A yellow weather warning from the MET Office remains in place for Argyll and Bute until 3pm on Saturday.
