BIDS are being invited from contractors seeking to build Helensburgh's new waterfront leisure centre after the publication of a 'contract notice' for the work.

Any interested parties have until Monday, March 11 to submit their application, which will then be evaluated by Argyll and Bute Council before those which meet the criteria are invited to tender for the work.

The contract notice is available for potential bidders to view at the Public Contracts Scotland website.

The new leisure centre was given planning permission by the council's planning, protective services and licensing committee last month at the third time of asking following two deferrals.

Councillor Gary Mulvaney, the authority's policy lead for strategic finance and capital regeneration, said: “With planning permission having been granted, the work can start to find the right company to carry out the work that will deliver a fantastic new facility for Helensburgh.

"The publishing of the contract notice marks another big step forward for the project and we can start to look forward to seeing work getting started at the site later this year.”

As well as the leisure centre, there will also be associated parking and coach drop-off to be designed, along with public realm works which meet the need of the local community. Flood defences are also a key aspect.
