DIGITAL technology may have made it easier than ever to produce an eye-catching picture by just pointing and snapping - but as these pictures show, with a little bit of time and practice keen enthusiasts can produce images which are simply stunning.

All the beautiful pictures with this article were taken by members of the Peninsula Camera Club, which meets every month and is keen to attract new members to join up.

The club’s existing membership of around 23 includes a wide mixture of specialities, including nature, portraits, dogs, astro, landscape and more.

Meetings are held at Cove Sailing Club on the third Wednesday of every month at 7.30pm, and new members and visitors are always welcome.

The club's current programme of meetings includes visits from several talented guest speakers, among them top sailing photographer Neil Ross and Andrew King, formerly the official photographer for Gaelic rock band Runrig.

Later this year the club is also running a fund-raising event in the form of An Evening With Colin Prior, world-renowned landscape photographer and the star of the BBC's Mountain Man documentary.

The event takes place at the Commodore Hotel in Helensburgh on Wednesday, November 13, and tickets, costing £10, will be available soon.
