HERMITAGE Academy pupils were given top tips for their lives after leaving school recently with a careers pathway evening.

The event, held on Monday, February 4 at the school, was attended by more than 20 local and national organisations who set up information stalls, handed out leaflets and passed on valuable careers advice to youngsters preparing to make subject choices.

Among the groups and companies which sent along representatives on the night, were the Royal Navy, Police Scotland, Ministry of Defence Police, BAE Systems, the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian University, Scottish Fire and Rescue and DYW Argyll.

Roseanne Mackay, depute head teacher at Hermitage Academy, said: “The career and pathway evening was our busiest one yet, it was a great success.

“This was the third year we have held this event, planning it to coincide with option choices.

“It is part of our ongoing commitment to the Developing Young Workforce agenda and ensuring that we are continuing to work towards the expectations within the Career Education Standard.

“Employers and colleges praised the engagement of parents and pupils.”
