TRAINS travelling between Edinburgh and Helensburgh are disrupted this morning after a vehicle collided with a bridge near the capital.

ScotRail updated a notice of severe disruption on the Helensburgh Central/Milngavie to Edinburgh via Bathgate line, due a road vehicle striking a bridge between Haymarket and Edinburgh Park.

ScotRail said their response team need to assess the damage before trains can safely run through the stations again.

The 11.19am train from Edinburgh to Helensburgh Central will now be strated from Bathgate, while the 11.48am train on the same line will be started from Coatdyke.

Disruption is expeected to last until around 12pm this afternoon.
