A 22-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court in connection with an incident in Cove in which young people attending the Cove and Kilcreggan Youth Cafe were reportedly subjected to threatening and abusive behaviour.
The man was arrested and kept in police custody overnight following the incident on the evening of Monday, March 18.
He was taken to Dumbarton Sheriff Court the following day and, following a brief appearance, was remanded in custody.
Initial social media reports claimed that a man had been seen in the area carrying a machete, but Inspector Roddy MacNeill from Helensburgh police office said the man was not in possession of a machete or any other weapon.
Susie Will, who runs the youth cafe, said parents of the young people attending the cafe on Monday night had been called and asked to come and collect their children.
Earlier in the same day, a 49-year-old man was arrested in Kilcreggan on suspicion of setting a fire within a cupboard in his own property.
Fire, police and housing service personnel attended the earlier incident.
