A DAY-LONG art workshop for secondary school pupils will take place at Cove Park on the Rosneath peninsula this weekend in the search for a new logo for a popular community festival in the area.

Graphic design expert Maeve Redmond will lead the event from 10am-4pm on Saturday, March 23 in the hope that the young people present can come up with a new design for the Sea Change festival, taking place over three days in Cove and Kilcreggan in June.

The annual festival is a family friendly weekend with films, a parade, a show for children, and an exhibition of their artwork and their own music making,.

It started with children from local primary schools offering their ideas – some of which were brilliantly innovative – and then Cove Park agreeing to have a master class with secondary school pupils to turn the best of these ideas into fully realised artwork.

Any secondary school pupil can come along - it’s absolutely free, and if necessary, transport can be arranged to take you to Cove Park, which is on Peaton Hill in Cove at G84 0PE. Fruit and drinks are on hand but budding designers should bring a packed lunch.

This year’s Sea Change festival runs from June 21-23, and the logo designs will be featured as part of the Sunday afternoon art exhibition at Cove Park – as will the work of the primary schools in the area.
