THE team from Arrochar Primary School was the clear winner of Helensburgh Rotary Club’s annual Primary 7 quiz, held at Lomond School in the town last week.

Taylor Neil, Lachlan O’Neill, and sister and brother Ella and Findlay Mustarde won the event for the village school for the first time.

They received a trophy for the school to keep, and the shield for the annual competition from Rotary Club president Mike Jane.

Competing against teams from Cardross, Colgrain, Hermitage, Lomond and Rhu, they achieved a winning score of 83 per cent, with the others closely grouped from 64 to 73 per cent.

Topics covered were general knowledge, Scottish general knowledge, TV, films, music, books, natural world, science, medicine, sport and pastimes, history, politics, and around the world.

“It was very competitive and much enjoyed,” said Alastair Wilson, who organised the event for the club.

The Arrochar team now go forward to the West of Scotland final later this year.
