THE Helensburgh Savoy Musical Theatre Group's annual events have benefitted many local organisations over the years, with £1,000 raised for the area's young carers just a few weeks ago.
Back in 2009, we reported on another generous donation to charity. Here's how it appeared in the Advertiser 10 years ago...
**********
MEMBERS of Helensburgh Savoy presented a giant cheque for £1,150 to Save the Children.
The money was from the proceeds of the Savoy’s annual charity concert Sing for your Supper held in February.
The presentation was made as the Savoy is currently rehearsing for their spring concert being held on April 25.
The cheque was presented to Christine Baillie who said: “I can’t believe that Helensburgh Savoy managed to raise so much and still cover all of their costs.
“We are very grateful.”
