A TALENTED performer has won a major role in one of the most successful award-winning musicals in London’s West End.

And actress, singer and dancer Jennifer Tierney says she owes her success to her training at Helensburgh’s Ian McLeod’s Theatre School - and her parents.

Jennifer is due to appear in the cast of Wicked - a musical prelude based on the Wizard of Oz - which is attracting record audiences at the capital’s Apollo Victoria Theatre.

Apart from having a role within the cast’s ensemble 28-year-old Jennifer will also be covering for Harriet Thorpe who plays a leading part as Madame Morrible in the lavish production when she joins the cast. But it was at Ian McLeod’s school where Jennifer’s theatrical ambitions developed.

She said: “It was really because of him that I’m working professionally. I began training at the school at a young age and it wouldn’t have been possible without him - and also I have a big thank you to my mum and dad, as I wouldn’t be where I am without them.”
