HERMITAGE Academy’s parent teacher association staged its annual car boot sale on Saturday and the super spring weather ensured the day was a huge success.

The indoor event drew in visitors to the school with some delicious home baking, soup, tea and coffee, while a face painter was o hand all day to deliver some creative artworks on the faces of guests young and old. There was also a fine line-up of more than 65 stalls with plenty of goodies to choose from and more than a few bargains to be had.

The PTA were delighted to raise just over £620 on the day, all of which will be used to support the many clubs and extra-curricular activities in the school and funding to develop its existing library space into a digital learning hub fit for the 21st century.

On top of that over £200 was raised by pupils towards their overseas trips to Georgia in the USA and Zambia for this year and 2020.

Marie Harvey, PTA chair, said: “This event has been a positive boost to our fund-raising efforts but sadly we are seeing fewer active parents getting involved with the PTA.

“Most of our existing committee will soon be stepping down so we are appealing for new members to help out occasionally or in a more official capacity.

“It would be a shame to see this event discontinue and see the school clubs suffer as a result.

"A final big thank you goes to all stall holders whose generous donations have gone to the DEBRA charity shop in Helensburgh.”
