PET owners and their canine companions came together for a day of fun at the Duchess Wood at the weekend.

The Helensburgh nature reserve hosted the annual Top Dogs’ Day Out event to promote responsible dog ownership and it was enjoyed by lots of visitors - not least our four-legged friends - on a beautiful sunny day.

The event was supported by various local businesses and charities, with demonstrations from Cani-Fit, as well as the opportunity to ask about pet health at the Parklea Vet stall and information from the Scottish SPCA and Scottish Guide Dogs, with six-month-old guide dog Ella proving a real hit.

Councillor Lorna Douglas, chair of the woodland’s management committee, said: “Our local dog warden was on hand to help out and Sandra, our dog owner and trainer for the day, was as organised, disciplined and fun as ever. A huge thank you to everyone who attended. Next year’s event is already in the pipeline with some new fun ideas to be factored in!”

Matt Offord, chair of the Friends of Duchess Wood, added: “The event went very well and dog owners came in their droves to the wood which provides a fantastic environment for them.”
