THE Royal Scottish Country Dance Society held its 41st Annual Weekend School recently in Hermitage Academy.

The dance Scottish event, held on Friday, March 29 until Sunday, March 31, was well attended with 145 dancers taking part as the group reached the end of their winter session.

A formal Ball was held on the Friday evening with music by the Marian Anderson Band and excellent local catering.

On the Saturday, the group were back in school for some tuition from visiting teacher Angela Young, accompanied on keyboard by her husband Graham Berry.

Good weather ensured that the many visitors, from as far afield as Cardiff and Thurso, were able to enjoy not only the local eateries but the beautiful scenery and surroundings.

Back to the dance floor on the Saturday evening, guests enjoyed more excellent music from the Nicol McLaren Band and catering by the Buffet Shop, while on Sunday members transferred to the Commodore Hotel for a relaxing coffee and chat and a very interesting talk by Angela and Graham on how dance music has changed over the years.

The group thanked caterers and the janitorial staff at Hermitage Academy for all their help and support on another successful weekend.

Social dancing continues throughout the summer across Scotland and the Helensburgh RSCDS classes will resume in October in Helensburgh Parish Church halls.
