A HOLIDAY retreat on the edge of Loch Lomond has been granted permission to install a tennis court.

The Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority gave the go-ahead for the facility to Auchendennan Farm Cottages, which are located just off the A82, between Balloch and Arden.

As well as seeking permission for the new sporting facility, applicant David McCowan, who sits on the park authority’s board as a directly elected member for West Loch Lomond and Balloch, asked the authority for the green light to change the designation of the site from agricultural land to leisure use.

A report by the authority’s planning department said: “The proposal is a small scale expansion of an existing tourism business in the countryside and is acceptable in principle.

“The development would have a localised visual impact which can be mitigated by a landscaping scheme and the proposal raises no conflict with policies.

“The proposal would safeguard trees and new planting would enhance the site’s biodiversity value.

“There are no drainage or flood issues.”

The application was granted with four conditions attached.
