A LINE of conifer trees has vanished from beside the oil depot at Faslane to make way for improvement works at the premises.
Concerns had been voiced by a Rosneath resident about the removal of the trees, which were situated beside the B872, just before the entrance to Garelochhead.
But a Navy spokesperson said that the process, which took place last week, would enable improvement work to take place.
The spokesperson said: “Tree felling was undertaken at the Garelochhead Oil Fuel Depot on Monday, April 1 to allow for the proposed development of a new boundary fence and vehicular access improvements.
“All planning consents for these works were granted by Argyll and Bute Council and an ecological impact survey was carried out which determined no signs of nesting birds, protected species or invasive non-native species habituating within the immediate vicinity.”
