ORGANISERS of a flagship bash aimed at supporting British troops have heaped praise on Burgh residents for backing the event.
Residents and businesses have rallied round to support the official celebration welcoming our local heroes back from Afghanistan, set to take place at the Victoria Halls on Sunday, May 10.
June McMurdo - who was inspired to stage the party to show appreciation for the efforts of servicemen like her Royal Marine Corporal son James, 27 - even faces having to print more tickets for the day after the original run of 300 briefs sold quickly.
Delighted June told the Advertiser: “We have sold 300 tickets and are looking at getting more.
“They sold out really quickly. It’s great to see 300 tickets flying out. The support has been tremendous.”
