A NEW piece of life-saving kit has been installed at the Gibson Hall in Garelochhead.

The public access defibrillator (PAD) is the 11th to be made available in the area by the Garelochhead and Rosneath Peninsula Community First Responders group.

A map of all the defibrillators now in place across the Helensburgh, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs area can be found online at trossachsdefibrillator.co.uk.

However, if you need to use a PAD and don’t immediately know where the nearest one is sited, call 999 and ask where the closest one is to your location.

None of the PADs in the Garelochhead and peninsula area need a code to be used, though some in other areas do, and you’ll be given the code by the call handler when you dial 999. The defibrillators are very simple to use and give clear real time instructions.

The group runs regular Heartstart courses to train people how to use the kit and teach them in basic CPR.

Anyone interested in hosting or organising a course can get in touch with ‘Garelochhead and Rosneath Peninsula Community First Responders’ on Facebook.
