A HELENSBURGH restaurant is celebrating a record-breaking night at a national awards ceremony after being crowned Scotland's 'Best World Cuisine' for the sixth consecutive year.

La Barca picked up the gong once again at the eighth annual Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards in Glasgow on Sunday.

Restaurateurs Cara and Milan Nikolic, of Kilcreggan, were joined by eight of their colleagues for the red carpet gala final and were delighted with the recognition for the Spanish tapas bar.

Cara said: "We thought 'no way would we get it again, surely it must be someone else’s turn'.

"We were as nervous as ever on the edge of our seats then they announced ‘they’ve done it, La Barca!’ and we all went crazy and were hugging each other and leapt up on stage.

“They told us it was the longest-ever winning steak. We’ve been up against many different great restaurants each year and to keep bringing it home is amazing.”

Floor manager Carlos Cano was praised by judges on the restaurant's scorecard, which highlighted his "knowledgeable, professional and great service".

La Barca triumphed over nine other restaurants from across Scotland in their category.

Meanwhile, sister restaurant Cattle and Creel also made the final of ‘Best Scottish Restaurant’ but were pipped to the title at the Wild West-themed event after facing stiff competition from 14 restaurants in their category.

The Wee Kelpie in West Clyde Street was also 'highly recommended' in the Best Takeaway category.
