A MAN from East Kilbride was arrested near a Loch Lomondside restaurant at the weekend for allegedly assaulting a police officer and hurling sectarian abuse.

Police attended The Cruin in the early hours of Sunday morning, April 28, in response to a call reporting a male walking along the A82 road.

The man, 31, was traced within the grounds of the venue and when spoken to by officers became aggressive.

He was then arrested for alleged sectarian abuse towards officers and police assault for spitting at a male officer’s face.

A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
