HELENSBURGH’S annual Christian Aid charity concert takes place at Helensburgh Parish Church this Sunday, May 5, at 7pm.
In what has become a very successful annual event, Derek Clark, David Bruce, and the Helensburgh Chamber Orchestra will present a programme consisting of a piano concerto, a string work, and the premiere of a work for winds.

Derek, who is director of music in the Parish Church and head of music at Scottish Opera, takes on a work that is famous for its romantic appeal – and its technical demands.
The other works in the short concert are Mozart’s delightful Serenata Notturna, K239, scored for the unusual combination of string orchestra, a string quartet including a double bass, and timpani; and A Walk with the Wind, a new work composed by Colin Suckling.
