HELENSBURGH and Lomond’s new representative at the Scottish Youth Parliament has been congratulated in the Scottish Parliament after being elected to the role.

Rosie Sumsion, the chair of the Helensburgh and Lomond Youth Forum, was elected last month to represent the area’s young people, and will hold the post for two years.

A motion laid down at Holyrood by the area’s MSP, Jackie Baillie, also congratulates Dylan Murdoch, who was elected to represent the Dumbarton and Vale of Leven area at the youth parliament.

Ms Baillie’s motion “celebrates that Dylan and Rosie, along with many other young people across Scotland, are showing an active interest in local and national politics; hopes that more young people will get involved with the issues that affect them; wishes Dylan and Rosie the best of luck in their roles, and believes that they will continue the fantastic work of previous MSYPs” in the area.

The motion has attracted the support of Ms Baillie’s fellow MSPs Miles Briggs, Alexander Stewart, Bill Kidd and Neil Bibby.
