A MAN has been arrested after allegedly carrying out an assault while armed with a knife at a Helensburgh flat.

The 31-year-old allegedly caused a disturbance at the property in East King Street on Sunday, May 12.

Police were called and attended the scene after the perpetrator was alleged to be armed with the weapon.

A second man sustained a hand injury as a result of the alleged attack.

The offender was arrested and taken to Clydebank police office where he was charged with alleged assault and causing a disturbance while in possession of a knife.

He was held in custody overnight, and was due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday.
