POLICE investigating an alleged housebreaking in Helensburgh believe it could be linked to three other similar crimes in the surrounding areas last week.

A three-figure sum of cash was reportedly stolen from a property in Cardross Road on Tuesday, May 14 after the householder returned to their home after work to find a rear pane of glass smashed through.

Officers carried out an examination of the scene and a positive line of enquiry is being followed.

Police say the incident is possibly related to similar crimes on the same day in Rhu and Cardross.

Two adjoining properties in Rhu were allegedly the subject of theft by housebreaking and both were accessed via broken glass panels.

A quantity of jewellery, perfume and personal effects were reported to be stolen, while a house in Barrs Court, Cardross was also targeted.

The house had been left unattended during the day and its owners returned to discover a smashed window and access gained to the property.

Police are awaiting an update regarding any items which may have been stolen.

Helensburgh CID are keen to hear from anyone who may have observed persons or vehicles in these areas during the day on Tuesday, May 14.
