For today's wander down Helensburgh's memory lane, we're going back 15 years to the news of RNLI awards to two of the charity's longest-serving Helensburgh volunteers.

TWO Helensburgh charity workers have had their efforts recognised by the RNLI.

Edith Benson and Leila Reynard from the Helensburgh fund-raising branch were presented with honorary awards in recognition of their dedication to the charity.

Honorary president of the Helensburgh committee, Mrs Reynard was presented with a Gold Honorary Award.

She has been a committee member for 27 years, honorary secretary for six years and chairman for five years.

Vice chairman and honorary secretary of the committee, Mrs Benson was awarded a Bronze Honorary Award.

She joined the committee in 1990 and has been an office bearer for five years.

The awards ceremony was held at the RNLI’s annual Scottish AGM at Perth City Hall last Wednesday and is part of a 100-year tradition recognising the effort.
