PROTESTERS who oppose plans for a major development on the shores of Loch Lomond at Balloch are to hold a public meeting next week.

The ‘Save Loch Lomond’ campaign group plans to give the public a chance to have their say on the planning application by Flamingo Land and Scottish Enterprise for the West Riverside and Woodbank House site.

An amended application for the site was lodged with the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority in April.

The development plans, now known as ‘Lomond Banks’, include proposals for extensive residential accommodation alongside a range of leisure and retail facilities.

A Save Loch Lomond spokesperson said: “The last public meeting was held by Balloch and Haldane Community Council (BHCC) last June, and as a year has elapsed and the plans have been amended, we felt that the public should be given the opportunity to have their voices heard.”

The meeting will be held in Alexandria Parish Church in Lomond Road, Balloch on Monday, June 24 at 7pm.
