TWO long-serving members of the Helensburgh community have been awarded British citizenship.

At a recent ceremony held in the marriage room in the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Dunbartonshire Linda Moffat represented Her Majesty The Queen as Burgh residents Juan Carlos Cano Triay, a Spanish national, and Samantha Anne Constantino Gallagher, a Philippine national, swore their allegiances to the Crown and the country and were formally awarded their British citizenship.

The ceremony is the culmination of 12 months intensive preparation and examination by the Home Office and at the conclusion of the formalities, Linda Moffat warmly welcomed the new citizens to the community that they have been members of for a number of years.

Both Carlos and Samantha are married and have been resident in Scotland for 17 and 19 years respectively; Samantha works in Glasgow and Carlos will be a familiar face to the customers of La Barca in Helensburgh.
