POLICE are probing the theft of a car from outside a Helensburgh home earlier this week.

A white '59 plate Ford Focus was stolen from the front of a property in Fisher Place in Churchill on Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Officers say it is unknown how or exactly when the vehicle was taken and an enquiry is ongoing.

Arron Blakey, whose dad Raymond owns the car, told the Advertiser: "My dad has had the car for a few years but he’s spent a lot of money on it to keep it in excellent condition.

"The car was his pride and joy. He works really hard and is more frustrated than anything.

"He’s just glad that nobody got hurt."

Arron said the car does not have a key and is a button entry lock, meaning the thief or thieves must have known exactly what they were doing to get the vehicle away unnoticed.

He also claimed that the boot of a next door neighbour's car had been opened when they went to check it in the morning, but nothing had been taken.
