THE end of term has just passed for schools across Helensburgh and Lomond, and indeed the country, and this article from 2009 takes a nostalgic look back on how some of the area's primary pupils celebrated the occasion 10 years ago...

BALLGOWNS and kilts were the dress code for a glittering occasion last week.
Primary seven pupils from Helensburgh’s Hermitage Primary School were celebrating their last days at the school before moving on to Hermitage Academy later this year with a glitzy and glamorous ball.
Held in the school hall, the ball was the highlight of the year and even the teachers dressed up for the occasion as pupils and staff celebrated the end of term.
Some of the youngsters arrived in real style with a variety of amazing methods of transport including a stunning open topped classic Volkswagen Beetle.
The red carpet was rolled out for the event as pupils made their grand entrances and all enjoyed a memorable evening.
