FOOD lovers from Helensburgh and beyond found plenty to tickle their tastebuds at the town’s second Street Food Sunday event – and there’ll be a chance to enjoy it all on an even greater scale later this month.

Local food producers found plenty of customers of all ages ready to sample the delicious sweet and savoury treats and soft and alcoholic drinks on sale at Argyll and Bute Council’s Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre on Sunday afternoon.

And while the sun didn’t quite shine on this year’s event in the way it did for the inaugural Street Food Sunday last July, that didn’t seem to dull the appetites of those who went along to eat, drink, be merry and soak up the atmosphere.

Helensburgh Central councillor Graham Hardie, who was among those attending Sunday’s event, said: “It was very good – there were lots of people enjoying themselves and there was a great sense of community spirit.

“There was good music and plenty of fun for the kids on an animated social occasion, and I’m looking forward to more events like this in the future.”

And if you missed Sunday’s event, there’s no need to fret too much – because the centre in East Clyde Street will be hosting not one but two days of food, drink and music later this month.

On Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21, there will be children-friendly family fun days with market stalls, hot food, farmers’ produce, sweets, arts and crafts, beer and cocktails from 10am until 5pm.

And on both dates, as day turns to night the centre will host ‘Beats and Eats’ evening sessions from 6-11pm, with more street food, pop-up bars and indoor and outdoor DJ sets.

The day events are free but the nights are ticketed, with tickets available online at TicketTailor.com.

See the ‘Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre – HLCC Events’ page on Facebook in the days leading up to the event for more information.
