A COVE schoolgirl went into McDonald’s for a happy meal - and came out with a family holiday to Los Angeles!

Molly O’Neill, 10, entered a competition at the fast food outlet at Easter, designing a monster in the style of the popular kids film Monsters v Aliens.

But she got the shock of her life last Friday when she was in school assembly and the head teacher of Kilcreggan Primary announced to the whole school she had won first prize.

Mum, Jenny, told the head teacher about Molly’s achievement and wanted her to share in the moment with her friends at school.

Molly described her award-winning monster as having three heads - one red, one yellow and one green - with big teeth and a slimy light blue body with dark spots.

“I called him Rainbow Glow,” she said.

The family – mum and partner Michael, his daughter Chloe and Molly’s sister, Orla – leave for California at the end of August, and while they are over there they will visit the Dreamworks studio where Rainbow Glow will be animated by designers

“I’m so excited, I’ve never been to America before," Molly added.

“All of my friends were wanting to know if they could come too!”
