Our latest stroll down memory lane in Helensburgh takes us back 15 years to a reunion of former Hermitage Academy pupils from the 1970s.

Here's how we reported on the night's reminiscing in the Advertiser on July 1, 2004...

MORE than 80 former pupils from Hermitage Academy gathered to enjoy a 70s reunion at the Commodore Hotel on Saturday.

Former pupils travelled from as far afield as Dubai and Florida for the occasion and were entertained by The Last Chance/Led Balloons combo of Ian and Steve with DJ John Beggs helping to fill in.

Organiser Malcolm Garrity said: “Much reminiscing went on as the former pupils perused copies of old school photos, report cards, school disco tickets, operetta librettos and smelly old scarves.

“Many old friendships were rekindled and a few new ones established and the night ended with the whole of the throng suggesting that ‘we must do this again’.”
