A HELENSBURGH-based beautician could be named the best in the business after making the final of a national awards competition.

La Rouge Hair and Beauty, on West Clyde Street, is listed alongside seven other salons from across the country in the best beauty salon category at this year’s Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards (SHABA).

And there could be double joy for the Burgh business as owner Lynsey Robertson is also shortlisted for best beauty therapist.

Last month the Advertiser reported on Helensburgh make-up artist Debbie Hendrick, who has also been nominated in the awards.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow in September and Lynsey will also be up against seven other talented professionals in the award category on the night.

Lynsey, 39, stays in Dumbarton and first opened La Rouge in April last year.

Having been a beauty therapist for 15 years, specialising in microblading - a semi-permanent tattoo technique used to create the illusion of fuller eyebrows – the mum of two said she was ecstatic to receive recognition of her efforts in the industry.

She said: “It’s been a very busy year as I still work in the Vale of Leven swimming pool as well, with two kids and two horses to look after.

“I have put in so much work to get the salon looking the way I wanted it, so to make the final for best salon and best beauty therapist out of the whole of Scotland is just amazing, I still can’t believe it!

“The competition is tough but just making the final is winning already in my eyes.

“I’m so looking forward to buying a ball gown and going to the awards to celebrate.”
