TRAIN journeys to and from Helensburgh will be disrupted once again for part of this weekend due to engineering work.

Replacement buses will run between Helensburgh Central and Dumbarton Central all day on Sunday, August 4 while Network Rail engineers carry out more track maintenance work in the Dumbarton area.

The disruption will be on a lesser scale than last Sunday, when no trains on the Helensburgh line operated west of Partick because of the planned closure.

ScotRail says that journey times this Sunday will be extended as a result, and that buses may leave earlier or later than advertised train times.

The line between Dumbarton Central and Helensburgh Central will be closed again on both Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11, again because of engineering work in the Dumbarton area.

In addition, on all three dates, buses will replace trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Crianlarich on the West Highland line, though the replacement bus service will call at all stations en route, including Helensburgh Upper, Garelochhead, Arrochar and Tarbet, and Ardlui.

This Sunday's engineering work comes after hundreds of Helensburgh commuters had their journeys to work disrupted on Wednesday morning because of damage to the overhead electric wires on the line near Bowling.
