POLICE in Helensburgh are urging the public to be on the lookout for potential pick-pockets after several reports of thefts in the town centre.

Officers received three separate reports on Wednesday, July 31 alleging bag-dip style thefts of purses and some residents have claimed that two women may be working together to target shoppers.

Police say they are following up enquiries and will be securing CCTV footage of any incidents after warning shops and shoppers to be vigilant.

Area inspector Roddy MacNeill said: "I would ask that people are, as always, mindful of where they are carrying purses and wallets and ensure that bags are closed and kept in view."
